Edgewise Therapeutics' experimental heart drug meets Phase 2 endpoints in cardiomyopathy trial

Edgewise Therapeutics reported that its oral candidate EDG-7500 achieved the predefined goals of a Phase 2 study in both obstructive and non‑obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

The trial demonstrated reductions in disease signs and key biomarkers, which the company says justifies moving the drug into pivotal trials.

The Colorado biotech recently sold its experimental muscular dystrophy pipeline to concentrate on cardiovascular disease, and the new drug will now face competition from Bristol Myers Squibb's Camzyos and Cytokinetics' Myqorzo.

Analysts note that, although the endpoints were met, the data do not clearly show how EDG-7500 differs from existing therapies, leaving some uncertainty about its future market position.
