Sentivera secures up to $1.5 billion licensing deal for inflammatory disease candidate
Sentivera, a biotech startup formed by investors behind Metsera, announced a licensing agreement with Shanghai-listed Haisco Pharmaceutical.
Under the deal, Sentivera will pay Haisco $40 million upfront and issue stock worth about $36 million, giving Haisco a 17.5% equity stake.
The agreement grants Sentivera rights to an inflammatory disease drug candidate that has just cleared regulatory clearance to start clinical development in China, and the total potential value of the partnership could reach $1.5 billion.
The funding round that supported the deal raised $83 million, including a $5 million contribution from Haisco's chairman Wang Junmin. The rapid formation of Sentivera follows Pfizer's recent acquisition of Metsera.
