cAMPfield Therapeutics raises $180 million to develop oral IBD drug prifemilast

Jun 18, 2026·read at BioPharma Dive ↗DealPositive

cAMPfield Therapeutics, a California biotech, announced a $180 million Series A financing to advance its oral anti‑inflammatory candidate for inflammatory bowel disease.

The investigational drug, prifemilast, belongs to the PDE4 inhibitor class and is designed to selectively block the PDE4B isoform, which is thought to drive inflammation while potentially reducing side effects compared with existing biologics such as Humira and Entyvio.

Prifemilast was originally discovered by vTv Therapeutics and later licensed to Newsoara Biopharma for several Asian markets. cAMPfield has now obtained worldwide rights outside of China, positioning it to pursue global development.

The funding comes as investors continue to target the IBD space, where recent deals have involved companies like Abivax, Spyre Therapeutics, and a $400 million investment from Blackstone into a joint Teva‑Sanofi program.
