Roche's Genentech reports 43% reduction in kidney damage marker in phase 3 IgA nephropathy trial
Roche Genentech disclosed detailed results from its phase 3 IMAgINATION trial of the antisense oligonucleotide sefaxersen in patients with IgA nephropathy.
The trial showed a 43.1% greater reduction in proteinuria, a key marker of kidney damage, compared with placebo after 37 weeks, and a higher rate of urine blood resolution among those with baseline hematuria.
Safety was consistent with earlier studies, with no new signals observed. The drug is administered once monthly via subcutaneous injection and targets complement factor B.
Roche presented the data at the American Society of Nephrology's Kidney Week and plans to continue the study for two years to assess kidney function, while engaging regulators to seek approval.
