Lilly’s EloraTZP combo shows superior weight loss and glucose control, moves to Phase 3

Eli Lilly reported that its experimental combination, EloraTZP, which pairs an amylin agonist with the approved obesity drug Zepbound, met all primary and secondary goals in a mid‑stage study of adults with obesity and type 2 diabetes.

In the Phase 2b trial of 367 participants, the highest dose of EloraTZP produced an average weight loss of 23.3% after 48 weeks, compared with 14.8% for tirzepatide alone and about 3% for placebo. The same group also saw a 2.9% reduction in A1C, outperforming the 2.4% drop observed with Zepbound alone.

The data were presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting in Milan and set the stage for a Phase 3 trial slated to begin before the end of the year, positioning the combo as a potential new option for weight management and diabetes control.
