Lilly's amylin-Zepbound combo shows 23% weight loss in type 2 diabetes patients

Eli Lilly reported that its amylin‑Zepbound combination, eloraTZP, produced an average 23.3% weight loss in adults with type 2 diabetes who were also obese or overweight. The result was derived from an efficacy estimand that assumes participants adhered to the treatment for the full 48‑week period.

At the highest dose, participants lost about 54.1 pounds over 48 weeks, and the therapy also lowered A1C levels, indicating glycemic benefit alongside the weight reduction.

Lilly said the positive topline data will lead to initiation of phase 3 trials for eloraTZP in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company recently presented data on its triple‑G candidate retatrutide, which showed 34.9% of patients achieving at least 25% weight loss, underscoring Lilly's focus on obesity and metabolic disease treatments.
