Expedition Therapeutics, a biotech that licenses drugs from Chinese firms, announced a $115 million Series B financing that will fund mid-stage testing of its experimental COPD candidate.
The funding follows a $165 million Series A raised last year and builds on the company’s partnership with Fosun Pharma, which gave Expedition worldwide rights to the molecule known as EXPD-101 (also called XH-S004).
EXPD-101 targets the enzyme DPP1, which activates neutrophils that can contribute to lung inflammation in COPD, and the company believes the drug may have advantages over existing treatments.
