Formation Bio appoints veteran biotech leader Michael Ehlers as chief scientific officer
Formation Bio, an AI-focused biotech, announced the hiring of Michael Ehlers, M.D., Ph.D., as its chief scientific officer and head of research and development.
Ehlers brings a blend of academic and industry experience, having served more than a decade as a neurobiology professor at Duke University before moving into pharma roles at Pfizer and later leading global R&D at Biogen.
He also co-founded Apple Tree Partners, helped launch four companies including Ascidian Therapeutics where he was CEO for six years, and most recently was an entrepreneur-partner at MPM BioImpact. Formation’s CEO Benjamine Liu said Ehlers’ background at the intersection of science and technology will guide the company’s drug discovery strategy.
