Royalty Pharma pays $125M upfront for royalty stake in AstraZeneca’s ATTR drug cliramitug

Jul 22, 2026·read at Fierce Biotech ↗DealPositive

Royalty Pharma has entered a deal to acquire a royalty interest in a transthyretin amyloidosis drug being developed by AstraZeneca.

The agreement involves an upfront payment of $125 million to Neurimmune, with a second $125 million payment scheduled for the first quarter of next year, and up to $175 million tied to clinical and regulatory milestones, potentially totaling $425 million.

In exchange, Royalty Pharma will receive a royalty of 3% to 4% on worldwide sales of the drug, known as cliramitug (NI006), which AstraZeneca licensed from Neurimmune in 2022.

Neurimmune previously reported phase 1 data showing substantial reductions in cardiac amyloid deposition at higher doses, and AstraZeneca’s Alexion rare disease unit has taken the therapy into further development.
