FDA approves Vera Therapeutics' Trutakna for IgA nephropathy, pricing set at $425,000 per year

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted approval to Trutakna, a new therapy from Vera Therapeutics, for the treatment of IgA nephropathy.

IgA nephropathy is a kidney disorder where immunoglobulin A deposits cause inflammation and progressive loss of kidney function, and there are few targeted options currently available.

Vera plans to price Trutakna at $425,000 per patient per year before typical insurance discounts and rebates, placing it among the higher-priced specialty medicines.

The approval adds to a growing pipeline of drugs aimed at this condition, offering clinicians an additional option as the market expands.
