Eli Lilly beats forecasts with 56% revenue jump, lifts full-year outlook
Eli Lilly reported first‑quarter revenue of $19.8 billion, up 56% year over year, and net income of $7.4 billion, or $8.26 a share. Non‑GAAP earnings were $8.55 a share, well above the $6.77 consensus estimate.
The surge was driven largely by overseas sales of its GLP‑1 diabetes drug Mounjaro, which continues to power the company’s growth in the obesity and diabetes market.
Lilly raised its full‑year guidance, now expecting revenue between $82 billion and $85 billion and non‑GAAP earnings of $35.50 to $37 a share.
Shares jumped about 9% after the release, and the company said it now controls just over 60% of the U.S. GLP‑1 market, outpacing Novo Nordisk’s share.
