SonoThera secures $125 million to advance ultrasound-based gene therapy for Duchenne and polycystic kidney disease

SonoThera announced it has raised $125 million in financing to move its ultrasound-based non-viral gene therapy platform toward clinical testing.

The funding will support the company’s two lead programs targeting Duchenne muscular dystrophy and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, both of which currently have limited treatment options.

CEO Ken Greenberg said the capital will enable the team to advance preclinical work and initiate early-stage trials, positioning SonoThera to compete in the growing gene-therapy market.
