AbbVie halts development of livmoniplimab after deeming benefit limited
AbbVie announced it is discontinuing the phase 2 development of its monoclonal antibody livmoniplimab (ABBV-151) after concluding the drug is unlikely to outperform existing therapies.
The drug was being tested in several solid tumor indications, including a phase 2/3 trial in non‑squamous non‑small cell lung cancer that would have compared livmoniplimab and AbbVie’s PD‑1 blocker budigalimab against Merck’s Keytruda. The trial, launched in 2024, had a readout expected in 2031.
AbbVie said the potential benefit appeared limited for cancers such as colorectal and lung cancer, and while disappointed, the company reaffirmed its commitment to its broader oncology pipeline.
