Akeso reports phase 3 overall survival win for ivonescimab in advanced biliary tract cancer

Aug 26, 2026·read at Fierce Biotech ↗Positive readoutPositive

Akeso announced that its bispecific antibody ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy improved overall survival in a China phase 3 trial for advanced biliary tract cancer, beating the standard regimen of AstraZeneca's Imfinzi plus chemo.

The Harmoni-GI1 study met its primary endpoint of overall survival as well as key secondary endpoints of progression-free survival and objective response rate, which the company described as clinically meaningful and statistically significant.

CEO Michelle Xia highlighted that this is the first successful late-stage trial of ivonescimab outside non-small cell lung cancer, underscoring the drug's broader potential, while also defending the data against ongoing skepticism about its performance in lung cancer.
