InventisBio's Phase 3 Trial Shows Nomelcitinib Achieves Over 70% PASI-90 Response in Chinese Psoriasis Patients
InventisBio, a Shanghai‑based biotech, completed a phase 3 study of its TYK2 inhibitor nomelcitinib in 391 Chinese patients with moderate to severe psoriasis. Participants were randomized to receive one of two dosing regimens of the drug or a placebo and were evaluated through week 16.
At the primary endpoint, more than 70% of patients in both nomelcitinib arms achieved at least a 90% improvement on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI-90). The company said the results were statistically superior to placebo, confirming the trial met its primary goal.
The PASI-90 rate matches the drug’s phase 2 performance and appears competitive with rival TYK2 inhibitors. Takeda’s zasocitinib reported PASI-90 rates of 61.3% and 51.9% in its phase 3 trials, while Alumis’s envudeucitinib achieved 59.9% and 53.1%. Oral L-23 receptor antagonist Icotyde from Johnson & Johnson and Protagonist showed 50%‑55% PASI-90 in its FDA‑supporting studies. InventisBio’s data suggest nomelcitinib could be a strong contender in the psoriasis market.
