GSK says UK restructuring will have limited impact on staff, focusing cuts on support roles
GSK executives said the company's global restructuring will only modestly affect UK staff, mainly targeting support functions at headquarters.
CEO Luke Miels explained during the Q3 earnings call that the aim is to keep the headquarters lean, prioritizing lab scientists, field teams and manufacturing staff.
The restructuring is part of GSK's "accelerating growth" plan announced in July, which seeks £1.9 billion of annual cost savings by 2029. Earlier this month, up to 1,217 jobs in Belgium were put at risk across R&D, manufacturing and support.
The firm moved its London headquarters to New Oxford Street in 2024, where 3,000 employees work in a hybrid model.
