Verdiva Bio halts phase 2 oral GLP-1 trial after enrolling only eight participants

Verdiva Bio announced it is ending its phase 2 study of VRB-101, a once‑weekly oral GLP‑1 candidate, after the trial fell far short of its enrollment target.

The study was intended to evaluate switching patients who had lost weight on injectable GLP‑1 drugs to the oral formulation. Only eight participants were enrolled between June and September, well below the planned 120.

The company said the decision reflects "market evolution" and it will continue developing VRB-101 as a monotherapy and in combination with its amylin portfolio.
