Kailera and Hengrui’s GLP-1/GIP candidate ribupatide cuts weight up to 20% and restores menstrual cycles in Phase 2 PMOS trial

Oct 2, 2026·read at BioSpace ↗Positive readoutPositive

Kailera Therapeutics and Hengrui Pharma reported positive results from a Phase 2 study of their weekly injectable GLP-1/GIP dual agonist, ribupatide, in women with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS). The mid‑stage trial enrolled 158 Chinese participants aged 18 to 40 who were overweight or obese.

Patients received weekly doses of 1 mg, 2 mg or 4 mg ribupatide or placebo for 32 weeks. The higher dose groups showed greater weight loss, with the 2 mg group losing an average of 15.1% of body weight and the 4 mg group losing up to 20.2%.

In addition to weight reduction, the study observed a higher frequency of regular menstrual cycles among ribupatide‑treated women, suggesting a benefit beyond metabolic control.

Analysts at Leerink Partners described the findings as "compelling" and noted that the menstrual effects provide early support for activity beyond weight loss, highlighting ribupatide’s potential as a multi‑indication therapy.
