Mid-dose petrelintide shows strongest weight loss in phase-2 trial, paving way for pivotal study

Roche and Zealand Pharma released new phase-2 data for petrelintide, an amylin analog being developed for obesity treatment.

In the Zupreme 1 trial, the 5 mg dose achieved the greatest mean weight loss of 9.8% at week 28, outperforming the 7.9% loss seen with the 1 mg and 2.5 mg doses and matching the 9.3‑9.4% loss at higher doses. Placebo participants lost about 1.7%.

The control‑adjusted reduction peaked at 8.1% for the 5 mg dose, and no additional benefit was observed with doses above 5 mg.

Based on these findings, the partners plan to launch a pivotal program, building on Roche's 2025 upfront payment of $1.65 billion for the asset.
