FDA drug center acting director Tracy Beth Høeg resigns amid leadership vacuum

Tracy Beth Høeg, the acting director of the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, is leaving the agency, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

Her departure follows the resignation of FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, announced just days earlier, leaving the agency with a notable leadership gap.

Deputy director Michael Davis has been named to serve as the acting director of the drug center while the FDA searches for a permanent replacement.

The agency and Høeg did not respond to requests for comment. Reuters and Bloomberg were the first to report the news.
