Eli Lilly climbs to top of Norstella’s Pipeline-to-Patient Productivity Index, beating 24 peers

Eli Lilly has risen to the top of Norstella’s inaugural Pipeline-to-Patient Productivity Index, a new benchmark that rates large global biopharma firms on research productivity, market access and commercial outcomes.

The index, which looks at metrics such as cost to create a new drug, time from Phase 1 to approval, launch coverage and revenue after seven years, placed Lilly ahead of 24 other companies after a five‑year climb from 16th position.

Norstella’s CEO said the tool offers investors clearer insight into a company’s ability to move a molecule from discovery through to market success, and the firm’s vice‑president highlighted Lilly’s strong performance across the measured criteria.

While the full ranking list was not released, the report underscores Lilly’s advantage from its GLP‑1 product sales and a robust pipeline, suggesting continued momentum in both development speed and commercial launch.
