Takeda R&D chief Andy Plump to leave after 12 years

Takeda announced that its President of Research and Development, Andy Plump, M.D., Ph.D., will depart the company in June after serving in the role for twelve years. He will remain in charge of R&D until a successor is named and will assist with the transition through mid‑next year.

Plump joined Takeda in 2015 from Sanofi, where he was chief medical and scientific officer. He is a trained internal‑medicine physician with a fellowship in medical genetics and has overseen Takeda's research portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas.

The leadership change comes as Takeda seeks to grow revenue while its flagship ADHD drug Vyvanse faces slowing sales. The company recently received FDA approval for the narcolepsy treatment Orzeyful and the blood cancer drug Mimrylo, adding to approvals in the past five years for Livtencity, Adzynma and Eohilia.
