Repligen to acquire BioLife Solutions for $1.5 billion, boosting its role in cell therapy preservation

Jul 22, 2026·read at BioSpace ↗DealPositive

Repligen announced a $1.5 billion acquisition of BioLife Solutions, a company whose CryoStor media is used to preserve cell therapies during storage and transport.

BioLife’s products are employed in several leading commercial cell therapies, including Johnson & Johnson’s Carvykti, Gilead’s Yescarta and Bristol Myers Squibb’s Breyanzi, and are common in many Phase 2/3 programs.

Repligen’s CEO Olivier Loeillet said the deal positions the company to capture growth as cell‑based treatments are expected to expand more than 20 % over the next five years, and analysts called the transaction a strong strategic fit.
