Bristol Myers Squibb announces construction of pharma’s largest NVIDIA AI supercomputer

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) said it is building what it calls the largest AI supercomputer in the life‑science sector, marking the third such claim by a drugmaker in nine months.

The effort expands a three‑year partnership with NVIDIA that began with a smaller cluster used for tasks such as protein‑structure prediction. BMS’s chief digital and technology officer Greg Meyers said the original space was fully used.

The new system is intended to support computationally intensive foundation models that can help the company understand how drug candidates interact with the body and disease pathways, with particular focus on oncology and neurodegeneration.

Meyers noted that the added capacity reflects BMS’s growing confidence that AI can deliver valuable insights for its pipeline, prompting the company to invest in the expanded hardware.
