Senate Democrats subpoena HHS for records on Trump-era vaccine policy overhaul

Senate Democrats have launched an inquiry into the Trump administration’s overhaul of U.S. vaccine policy, asking the Department of Health and Human Services to turn over records by the following week.

In a letter to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Finance Committee members Ron Wyden and Maggie Hassan criticized the changes to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, noting that Kennedy dismissed the entire prior panel and appointed allies known for vaccine skepticism.

The Democrats are seeking documents that show who authorized the revamp, what risks were evaluated, and how the new ACIP members were vetted, saying they want to assess the legality and decision-making process behind the changes.

The request underscores growing congressional concern over the potential impact of the policy shift on public health and the pharmaceutical industry, though the inquiry may face procedural hurdles.
