Eli Lilly to acquire non-opioid pain drug developer 4E Therapeutics, adding MNK inhibitor pipeline
Eli Lilly announced it will purchase 4E Therapeutics, a biotech focused on non‑opioid pain treatments.
The acquisition gives Lilly access to 4E’s experimental pipeline, including MNK inhibitors such as lead candidate 4ET1103, which has completed an early human safety trial for nerve‑damage pain.
4E also has candidates targeting migraines and acute pain. The Austin‑based startup previously raised just under $10 million from private investors and NIH grants.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Lilly’s co‑founder Ted Price said the company’s development and commercial capabilities make it a suitable home for the work.
