Saudi Arabia signs 46 biotech agreements at Riyadh summit, targeting $1.5 bn investment
The fourth Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit wrapped up on September 16, with 46 agreements signed among local and international participants.
The disclosed agreements represent about 5.5 billion SAR (roughly $1.47 billion) and featured speakers from leading institutions such as Mass General Cancer Center, Stanford University, MIT and Novo Holdings.
Chairman Dr. Abdulrahman Alshaya emphasized that converting these agreements into operational programs will be the real test, as the summit was designed to go beyond typical short-term exhibition deals.
The event, organized by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, KAIMRC and King Saud University, aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Biotechnology Strategy, which aims to generate $34.6 billion in non-oil GDP from biotech by 2040.
