Eli Lilly gives hospitals five days to submit 340B claims data or lose discount pricing

Jun 1, 2026·read at STAT ↗RegulatoryNegative

Eli Lilly has issued a notice to more than 1,000 hospitals that take part in the federal 340B drug discount program, requiring them to provide comprehensive claims data within five days.

The company says the data is needed to prevent duplicate discounts that it believes some hospitals receive, a policy it first announced in January.

While about 2,300 hospitals have complied in recent years, several large hospital systems have resisted, prompting Lilly to warn that those that do not submit the information by the deadline will lose their mandated price breaks.

The move adds to ongoing tensions between drug makers and hospitals over the 340B program, which has been a flashpoint for disputes about pricing and eligibility.
