Servier to acquire Edgewise Therapeutics' muscular dystrophy program for up to $2.65 billion

French pharma group Servier announced it will purchase Edgewise Therapeutics' muscular dystrophy business.

The transaction is valued at up to $2.65 billion, comprising a $1.55 billion upfront cash payment and potential milestone payments of up to $1.1 billion.

The deal centers on the oral drug sevasemten, which is in a pivotal trial for Becker muscular dystrophy and a Phase 2 study for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, designed to protect muscle tissue from damage.

Following the sale, Edgewise will refocus on developing cardiovascular medicines, while Servier adds a rare‑disease asset to its pipeline.
