FTC seeks contempt ruling against Martin Shkreli for breaching lifetime pharma ban
The Federal Trade Commission has asked a judge to hold Martin Shkreli in contempt for allegedly breaching the lifetime ban that was imposed after his 2022 release from prison.
The agency alleges that Shkreli has been trading pharmaceutical stocks and publicly sharing opinions that have damaged the reputations and lowered the share prices of small biotech companies, including Capricor Therapeutics and Cassava.
In a July 27 post on X, he urged prison sentences for Capricor’s chief executive and a researcher, accusing them of mishandling patient data.
The FTC describes the behavior as egregious, deliberate and repetitive, and is seeking enforcement of the court order.
