Stryker invests $400 million in CMR Surgical, securing exclusive U.S. rights to Versius robotic platform
Stryker announced a strategic investment of about $400 million in UK‑based CMR Surgical, a developer of modular, portable surgical robots.
Under the agreement, Stryker will act as the exclusive U.S. commercial agent for CMR’s Versius portfolio, while CMR will continue to lead product development and sales outside the United States. The deal also includes an option for Stryker to acquire all of CMR’s outstanding equity in the future.
Versius has received FDA clearance for cholecystectomy procedures and a 510(k) submission is pending for benign gynecologic indications. The partnership comes as demand for robotic‑assisted surgery rises globally, illustrated by an 18% increase in Intuitive’s da Vinci procedures in 2025.
