Pfizer strikes over $500M partnership with Enodia to develop Sec61-targeting small-molecule drugs
Pfizer's venture arm helped fund Enodia Therapeutics with a $25 million seed round earlier this year.
The two companies have now announced a collaboration that could be worth more than $500 million, combining an upfront payment with research, development and sales milestones, and includes tiered royalties for Enodia.
The deal gives Pfizer access to Enodia's platform for creating small-molecule inhibitors of Sec61, a membrane protein complex involved in processing newly made proteins and linked to many disease areas.
Enodia will lead the screening, optimization and early development of Sec61 inhibitor candidates, while Pfizer will support later-stage development and eventual commercialization.
