GSK announced it will spend more than $800 million to expand its Upper Merion site near Philadelphia, adding biologics production capacity.
The plan includes demolishing existing structures next year and building a new biologics production facility, a co-located R&D pilot plant, a centralized quality control lab, and a manufacturing science and technology hub.
The expansion is expected to support both clinical and commercial supply of future medicines and create over 300 new jobs within five years, according to Pennsylvania officials.
