Nuvig Therapeutics pauses CIDP trial of NVG-2089, cites enrollment and cost challenges
Nuvig Therapeutics, backed by major pharmaceutical partners, announced it is stopping development of its lead fusion protein NVG-2089 for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). The decision was driven by cost and projected enrollment timeline constraints, not safety concerns, according to CEO David Woodhouse. The phase 2 CIDP trial had enrolled 14 patients since its April 2025 launch and will cease enrollment, while a separate mid‑stage study of NVG-2089 in immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) remains active.
Nuvig said it will continue to develop NVG-2089 and plans to release data from both the halted CIDP trial and the ongoing ITP study in the coming months.
