Sofinnova Partners raises €82 million to expand medtech creation strategy in Europe and U.S.
Sofinnova Partners announced that it has secured €82 million ($93.3 million) in an oversubscribed financing round. The capital will be used to broaden the firm’s medtech creation strategy across Europe and the United States.
The new fund, called Sofinnova MD Start IV, is designed to support new ventures from inception through key clinical and operational milestones. It follows the earlier Sofinnova MD Start III fund, which raised €63 million and invested in six companies that later attracted more than €140 million in follow‑on financing.
Companies backed by the previous fund include LimFlow, PreCARDIA, CorWave, BrightHeart and Moon Surgical. Antoine Papiernik, chair and managing partner at Sofinnova, said the latest fund will allow the group to scale its approach and remain a core part of its life‑science platform.
Sofinnova, founded in 1972, now manages over €4 billion in assets, underscoring its significant role in the European venture capital landscape.
