Roche signs up to $2 billion partnership with Atavistik to develop cardiometabolic drugs

Roche announced a partnership with Atavistik Bio, a biotech focused on hematology, to pursue new small-molecule treatments for cardiovascular, renal and metabolic conditions.

The agreement provides Roche with an upfront payment of $70 million and the potential for up to $1.9 billion in milestone payments, plus royalties, as Atavistik leads discovery work using its allosteric drug discovery platform.

Under the deal, Atavistik will conduct early-stage research on several CVRM targets, while Roche will take responsibility for later preclinical, clinical and commercial development.

The collaboration aligns with Roche’s recent expansion of research activities in Boston and its stated priority to address cardiometabolic diseases.
