FDA launches pilot to accelerate early-stage drug trials in the United States

The FDA announced a new pilot program called the Expedited Investigational New Drug Pilot as part of Operation Trialblazer.

The initiative will pair up to ten qualified research institutions with pharmaceutical companies to speed the preparation of IND applications and enable a rolling review process.

The goal is to encourage companies to conduct early human trials in the U.S. rather than moving them to countries with faster regulatory pathways such as China or Australia.

The program aims to leverage the scientific expertise of selected institutions to reduce delays and bring promising treatments to patients more quickly.
