Whole Foods recalls Cabricharme cheese after undisclosed egg protein found

Whole Foods Market announced a recall of its Fromagerie Coop de Mean Cabricharme cheese after testing revealed the presence of egg lysozyme, an egg-white protein that was not listed on the label.

The undeclared allergen poses a serious risk to customers with egg allergies or severe sensitivities, who could experience life-threatening reactions if they consume the cheese.

The affected cheese was sold in the specialty cheese sections of 18 Whole Foods stores across Arizona, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. All identified product has been removed from shelves after the mislabeling was discovered by a store employee, and no illnesses have been reported.
