Moonwalk Biosciences raises $70M and pivots to RNAi obesity drug development

Moonwalk Biosciences, a California biotech founded in 2024, announced a new $70 million venture funding round.

The capital will support development of its first obesity drug, which uses RNA interference technology licensed from a Chinese drugmaker, aiming for clinical testing by the end of 2027.

The company originally focused on epigenome based gene editing, but its scientists now see RNAi as a faster path to clinic, expanding its pipeline of small interfering RNA treatments.
