Trump announces nine new drug pricing agreements to align U.S. prices with peer nations

President Trump announced a new round of voluntary pricing agreements with nine additional pharmaceutical companies, adding to the 17 firms that have previously signed similar deals.

The companies named include Alcon, Astellas, BeOne, BridgeBio, CSL, Sun Pharma, Kyowa Kirin, Teva and UCB. They have pledged to price new medicines in the United States at levels comparable to the lowest prices found in comparable foreign markets.

The agreements also require the firms to offer their products to state Medicaid programs at "most-favored-nation" rates and, in some cases, to support additional pricing mechanisms, though many details remain undisclosed.

The administration says the deals are intended to lower drug costs for American patients, while industry observers note that the voluntary nature of the commitments may limit their overall impact.
