Deficiencies that might be subclinical in adult cats can be rapidly fatal or cause permanent developmental damage in kittens. Kittens fed milk replacer that is deficient in copper, potassium, vitamin B6, folic acid, and choline face compounding, multi-system risks, such as anemia, neurological dysfunction, liver failure, kidney damage, skeletal diseases, and cardiac compromise.

Due to the rapid growth of young kittens, clinical signs may appear within days to a few weeks, and the deficiencies can be fatal or cause permanent organ damage if not recognized in time. Consumers who have kittens that have consumed any of the recalled products and are showing clinical signs should contact their veterinarian.Recalled products were sold nationwide online and in retail pet stores. Products are packaged in multiple sizes of stand-up resealable bags and 12 oz jars.
