Summit Therapeutics and Akeso report Phase 3 survival benefit for ivonescimab in Chinese biliary tract cancer

Summit Therapeutics and its Chinese partner Akeso said their bispecific antibody ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy improved overall survival for patients with first-line biliary tract cancer in China. The Phase 3 HARMONi-GI1 trial met its primary endpoint and also achieved its key secondary goals of longer progression-free survival and higher objective response rate.

The study enrolled 682 patients and was evaluated after a pre-specified interim analysis by an independent data monitoring committee. Detailed efficacy data were not released at the time of the announcement.

Following the press release, Summit's share price rose about 15 percent in pre-market trading. The company plans to present additional data at an upcoming international academic conference and to publish the full results in a peer-reviewed journal.
