FDA clears first wearable that continuously tracks both glucose and ketone levels
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has authorized the Libre Duo 10 Day Continuous Dual Glucose Ketone Monitoring System for individuals aged two years and older who have diabetes.
The device is the first wearable in the United States to provide continuous ketone monitoring and the first worldwide to measure glucose and ketones together in a single sensor.
Real-time ketone data can help users detect rising levels early, allowing prompt action to avoid diabetic ketoacidosis, a serious risk especially for people with type-1 diabetes.
With roughly 40.1 million Americans living with diabetes and about 2.1 million having type-1, the new system could simplify monitoring that previously required separate tests for glucose and ketones.
