Chai Discovery partners with Bristol Myers Squibb to use AI for antibody discovery

Chai Discovery, an AI-driven drug discovery company, announced a collaboration with Bristol Myers Squibb to apply its artificial-intelligence models to therapeutic antibody research. The partnership was disclosed in a release on August 20.

Chai, based in San Francisco, builds AI systems that predict molecular interactions and can redesign them. The firm recently closed a $400 million Series C round and already has research agreements with Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Novartis.

Bristol Myers Squibb said it will use Chai’s molecular folding and design models, though it did not specify the targets or disease areas. Both companies said the collaboration aims to speed up antibody discovery by combining Chai’s technology with BMS’s therapeutic expertise.
