Regeneron halts Phase 1/2 uveitis antibody trial after safety concerns
Regeneron announced termination of a Phase 1/2 study of its investigational anti-inflammatory antibody REGN7041, which was being evaluated for non-infectious uveitis.
The company said the decision was based on an "unfavorable benefit-risk assessment" after a safety event was observed in the trial, though the specific event and its cause have not been disclosed.
REGN7041 targets CD3 on immune cells to modulate inflammation, but no anti-CD3 therapy has yet received approval for uveitis. The halt adds to recent setbacks for Regeneron, including Phase 3 failures of the Dupixent follow-up itepekimab and a melanoma combination regimen.
