Taylor Fresh Foods recalls jalapeño-containing products over possible Salmonella contamination

Taylor Fresh Foods announced a recall of finished products that contain jalapeño peppers after being notified of a voluntary recall by Coast Citrus Distributors due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The affected items include dips, salsa, guacamole and other ready-to-eat foods sold under brands such as Trader Joe’s and Freshness Guaranteed.

Health officials say Salmonella can cause severe illness, especially in vulnerable populations, and are investigating a multistate outbreak linked to the jalapeños supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors.

Consumers are advised to discard the recalled products and to follow any further guidance from the FDA or CDC.
