Experts see bispecific antibodies and CAR-T therapies emerging as future options beyond BTK inhibitors for mantle cell lymphoma

Lore Gruenbaum, PhD, chief scientific officer and senior vice president of research at Blood Cancer United, discussed alternative treatment strategies for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) that go beyond BTK inhibitors.

She highlighted that bispecific antibodies are expected to secure a role in the MCL treatment landscape, offering a new mechanism of action for patients who have progressed on existing therapies.

Gruenbaum also pointed to ongoing research into CAR T-cell approaches, including in-vivo CAR T studies, which could eventually provide additional options, although she cautioned that their eventual use may differ from that of bispecifics.

These emerging modalities could expand the therapeutic arsenal for MCL and address unmet needs, signaling a broader shift in how blood-cancer specialists may manage the disease in the coming years.
