Sandoz to Pay $478.5 Million to Settle Generic Drug Price-Fixing Claims

Aug 3, 2026·read at STAT ↗RegulatoryNegative

Sandoz has agreed to pay $478.5 million to resolve allegations that it participated in a widespread conspiracy to inflate and manipulate the prices of generic medicines. Dozens of U.S. states and indirect resellers brought the claims, arguing the conduct reduced competition and harmed consumers.

Under the settlement, the company will pay $400 million over seven years beginning in 2027 to settle remaining state cases, an additional roughly $50 million to states that settled earlier, and $28.5 million to end class‑action litigation by indirect resellers.

Sandoz did not admit any wrongdoing. The deal adds to a series of settlements in a long‑running battle between states and major generic drug makers over alleged price‑fixing practices.
