FTC sues Hims & Hers for misleading consumers and privacy violations
The Federal Trade Commission, joined by Utah and California, filed a lawsuit against Hims & Hers, a direct-to-consumer telehealth provider, alleging deceptive business practices.
The complaint says the company misled users about sharing their health data with third parties such as Meta and Snap, and did not clearly disclose that completing a medical questionnaire enrolls patients in an automatically renewing medication subscription.
The suit also claims patients have little opportunity to review or consent to the provider’s recommended treatments and that the platform makes it difficult to cancel or modify services.
