Mars Petcare voluntarily recalls two lots of Pedigree high-protein wet dog food over possible metal and plastic contamination
Mars Petcare US announced a voluntary recall of two lots of Pedigree Can High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor wet dog food (13.2 oz) after discovering potential foreign material.
The recall was triggered when the product, which had been sent to a third-party vendor for destruction, appears to have been fraudulently diverted into the U.S. market.
Tests suggest the cans may contain sharp metal or plastic fragments, posing choking, laceration, or gastrointestinal blockage risks to dogs.
Mars is cooperating with authorities to investigate the source of the diversion and has instructed consumers to contact veterinarians if their pets may have consumed the product.
